Connecting Your Google Gmail inbox to the Travtus Platform

Integrating your Gmail inbox with the Travtus platform is a straightforward process. We provide two approaches to get started, these steps should guide you through successfully delegated authority access for specific Gmail accounts within your organization.
  1. Domain-wide delegation of authority Providing authorization on a domain or Organisational Unit basis.
  2. OAuth 2.0 Authorization Providing authorization on a mailbox by mailbox basis.

Domain-wide delegation of authority

Domain-wide delegation allows you to grant access to the application once for an organisational unit, and then configure any email addresses within that domain within the Travtus platform. To delegate domain-wide authority to our service account:
  1. From your domain’s Admin console, go to Main menu ☰ > Security > Access and data control > API controls.
  2. In the Domain wide delegation pane, select Manage Domain Wide Delegation.
  3. Click Add new.
  4. In the Client ID field, enter the client ID that we shared during the onboarding process.
  5. In the OAuth Scopes field, enter a comma-delimited list of the scopes that we provided during the onboarding process.
  6. Click Authorize.
  7. After authorization, mailbox subscriptions are configured and managed within Travtus Studio. Administrators should periodically review active subscriptions to ensure alignment with operational intent, particularly following changes to distribution group membership.
That’s it!
Security Best Practice
Domain-wide delegation allows the Travtus application to access approved mailboxes within your Google Workspace domain in accordance with the authorized OAuth scopes.
Scopes limit what data can be accessed by the application. and you manage the inbox subscriptions via the Travtus Studio. Travtus processes emails only from mailboxes that are authorized and subscribed. For tighter control, we recommend creating a dedicated Organisational Unit (e.g., “Travtus Mailboxes”) and placing only approved shared or operational mailboxes within that OU. This ensures clear separation.Steps:
  1. Create a new OU (e.g., Travtus Mailboxes) Google guide: https://support.google.com/a/answer/182537
  2. Move only approved shared mailbox accounts into that OU Google guide: https://support.google.com/a/answer/182537
  3. Configure App Access Control to allow the Travtus application for that OU and restrict it elsewhere Google guide: https://support.google.com/a/answer/7281227

OAuth 2.0 Authorization

This approach allows you to provide access on a mailbox by mailbox basis, inviting specific users to provide authorization.

Step 1: Invite users to the Travtus Platform.

We reccomend using a branded email, inviting users to the platform providing them with the below URL: https://google-workspace.travtus.com/gmail/authorize

Step 2: Review and Provide Authorization

Once on the authorization page, the user should review and agree to the permissions requested:
  • Carefully read through the Gmail consent screen presented to you.
  • Review the permissions that Travtus is requesting access to.
  • If you agree, click on the button to provide authorization.

Step 3: Integration complete

After you have approved the access:
  • You will be redirected to the Travtus homepage https://www.travtus.com/.
  • The Travtus platform will automatically handle the integration process.
  • Your Gmail account is now connected to the Travtus platform.
That’s it! Your Gmail account will now be accessible through the Travtus platform, providing you with enhanced data management capabilities. For any questions or assistance, please contact our support team at [email protected]. Thank you for choosing Travtus!
